The medical perspective
Pete's good buddy Brian is back in town and watching over Pete today. He is heading to surgery for more washing of the abdomen and per Brian "Looks good!" I am back at work and talked with co-workers in the ER , many of whom are old burned-out, ragged ex-ICU nurses and they say Pete's open abdomen and procedures are scary to look at but actually quite common and he should pull through this especially given his age. I think about him all the time and I know from personal experience how bullheaded and strong Pete is. If anyone can get through this, it is him.

Thanks Marcus.
ReplyDeleteI'm a nursing student too and I mentioned Pete's situation to my preceptor who used to work in ICU and she said something similar...it's comforting to know that nurses who have seen it all say it looks good :)

Glad to hear that opinions are positive. If we still need to get his blood pressure up I will be happy to give him my thoughts on asymmetrical spinnaker trim. Of course he may just reach over and choke me. Then we'd have two people in rough shape. I am willing though...
ReplyDeleteI remember something Pete said while administering me a little first-aid, "The solution to pollution is dilution!"
