Pete's vital signs have stabilized over the night and as I write this the OR team is prepping Pete for transport to surgery. Today they are doing a more thorough washout of his abdomen and further investigation into what is happening in Pete's abdomen. He will have to have several washouts over the next week and until this process is complete Pete's abdomen will remain open in between surgeries.
At this point the primary concerns are the risks associated with prolonged dependence on life support systems and the possibility of secondary infection. Thank you for all your continued support!

Think of you and Pete every day. I hope that you will be up for a visit in 3 weeks or so - driving down with my parents and we want to stop and see you, hoping Pete may be able to have visitors by then. Wish i was closer so I could bring you healthy snacks and treats, but know that we are supporting you from afar,

Thank you everyone! At this point we are doing well and starting to settle into our new routine. I'm even going back to work part-time this week. Where we will need support is down the line a ways once Pete has recovered enough to be taken off life-support and once he is able to come home. Thank you again, I couldn't be coping as well as I am without all of your love and support.
